1.      What do you think of the idea of Google correlating personal traits from the employees’answers on the survey to their performance, and then using that as the basis for screeningjob candidates? In other words, is it or is it nor a good idea? and please explain your answer.
Google is recently names as the 100 best companies to work for, and is expanding so far that it has to address is various issues regarding management of people’s operation, work-life balance and its international expansion which its rapid growth. Google is striving to try new practices of correlating personal traits as the basis for screening job candidates are geared towards hiring the candidates whose knowledge, skills and abilities provides the great match with clearly defined requirement of particular job. Traditional techniques ignored the specific requirements of job and were long and cumbersome process.
Correlating personal traits from employees answer to their performances as the basis for screening job candidates is geared towards hiring the person who is best suited for the specific organization culture. The hiring process is extremely time consuming and ambiguous as they try to identify the traits of that individual to succeed at Google. However, this whole procedure was so long and tiring that they lost many candidates in this whole procedure. Correlating personal traits as the basis for screening candidates reduced the chances of selecting the wrong candidates for the job and the time that they took with the old method of selection. It’s a good idea to correlate personal traits from the employees answers on the survey to their performances and using as a basis for screening job candidates match those of the current employees there is a little chances of selecting the unwanted ones and greater chances of fitting to the firms culture and requirement than those who don’t match the requirement.

2.      The benefits that Google pays obviously represent an enormous expense. Based on whatyou know about Google and on what you read in this book, how would you defend allthese benefits if you’re making a presentation to the security analysis who were analyzing Google’s performance?
Yes, Google has consistenly uphold the concept of innovation and insists to build a easy, relaxed atmosphere like a small company, which is a benefit to employees to create. If employees can not relax or open their mind that it harmful for them to create. the benefits that Google has been paying obviously represents an enormous expense, Companies continue to face challenges in a globally integrated world, and thus are looking to their workforce to help them be more agile, as well as operate smarter, faster, and cheaper.  Enormous expenses on benefit are the key aspects of sustaining high performing employees who drove the organization to the position it is today. We need to consider it as an investment rather than the expenses to the organization, as a result of which we are able to attract the best applicants which is crucial for sustaining Google’s growth. Google is listed as 100 best companies to work that’s grown from three employees to 10000 employees and from 0 value to billions of dollars in about 5 years, which provides evidence for the support of  huge amount  on benefits that they have been offering. Moreover, achieving the right work-life balance is the centerpiece of Google’s culture and the company need to provide huge amount of money to support that kind of lifestyle like 24 hours operation, long hour’s operation and can also be much tensed. Google has to spend huge amount on benefits if it is willing to grow internationally, rapidly, successfully and attract and retain super-bright people.
Win-win event : Google invest hardware build a relax environtment and high salary, but Google gain talents and haigh quality products. And a rapid development of the future. So it is worth for google to spent an enormous expense.

3.      If you wanted to hire the brightest people around, how would you go about recruiting selecting them?
The ability to attract and retain talent is rapidly becoming one of the key issues for human resource managers and their organizations across the globe. Hiring right people for the right job has been an important factor to succeed, for any organization, big or small. Hiring the brightest people is more difficult as the competition is more intensive and the brightest people are very scarce. High performing organizations are consistently outperforming their competitors on a number of human resource factors, including the level of teamwork and openness between co-workers, the training and development opportunities they offer to employees and the degree of pro-activity in HR planning. Developing this capability begins with the realization that effective human resource management underpins the competitiveness of organizations. For other solution is :
-          Google may also recruit people with diverse skill and qualities. While recruiting, Google should attach a lot of importance to academic excellence as revealed in grade score in SAT and other graduate exam. To get an interview call from google, a person had to be from a top ranking university.
-          Recruiting via the Internet is also an effective and efficient way. In general. The web is a cost effective way to publicize opening.
-          Making google as a world class organization where staff has the opportunity to make a contribution and the recognized and rewarded for their efforts is another method.
-          Google may also find a benefit in offering a referral bonus for internal staff to recommend candidates from the outside.

4.      To support its growth and expansion strategi , Google wants (among other traits) people who are super bright and who work hard, often round the clock, and who are flexible and maintain a decent work life balace. List five specific HR policies or practices that you think Google has implemented or should implement to support its strategy and explain your answer.
-          First, Google should continue to offer effective work-life balance program that promote the use of flextime as well as other programs geared to help an employee balance their professional and personal life.
-          Second, as Google continues to grow, it should maintain its current entrepreneurial environment.
-          Third, Google should consider decentralizing its current hiring process be delegated to other trusted staff that has the authoriyu to make hiring decision.
-          Fourth, as Google continues to grow internationally, it should consider how communications and work flow will be effected by both cultural and time zone different.
-          Fifth, Google should continues to look for innovative reward and recognition programs which meet the needs of its exixting staff.

5.      What sorts of factor do you think Google will have to take into consideration as it tries transferring its culture and reward system and way of doing business to its operations aboard?
As the company grows internationally, it faces considerable amount of challenges in terms of recruiting and building staffs overseas, performance, working in completely new set of values and ideologies and maintaining to the international standards and needs. Although, the international market is fertile ground for Google, growth momentum may be tough to maintain due to the difference in cultures, reward system, complete new environment, set of standards and spreading economic gloom as well. Advanced education about the market is needed to enter international markets. Most importantly, the organization has to take into considerations its legal and social liabilities while operating abroad. Things are not the same like they used to be in home, due to complete different sets of values, norms, beliefs, culture, international laws, social and legal responsibilities which should be considered while performing business in any places.
Operating aboard :
-          As Google grow internationally, its organizational culture and reward system and way of doing business should be transferred to suit with the local status.
-          Operating abroad, I think Google will have to consider : The culture continues, the staff benefit, the recruitment of staff overseas.
-          We know that organizational culture includes value, principles, traditions and ways of doing things, its impact the action of staff. The culture continues is very important for Google so that it should make sure that all the employees have learned and adapted the culture and also create a more suitable culture in these basic according to the local condition.
-          In Google, achive the right work life balance is the centerpiece of its culture. On the one hand. Google does expect all of its employees to work super hard, on yhe other hand, they should optimize the reward system to maintain its balance. For example, improve the salary and bonus according their performance and the local taxation respectively.

6.      Given the sorts of value and culture Google cherishes, briefly describe four specific activities you suggest they pursue during new employee orientation.

Every organization has its own sets of values, sets of beliefs and organizational culture. Similarly, Google also cherishes its own sets of values and cultures which took the organization to the heights of success and excellence. Google wants people with growth potential and provides financial benefits that supports the talents and maintain acceptable work life-balance. Google's emphasis on innovation and commitment to cost containment means each employee is a hands-on contributor. There's little in the way of corporate hierarchy and everyone wears several hats. Google should pursue some specific activities during new employee orientation such that they can get to know the values, beliefs and organizational culture, which helps them to set with given values and culture.
Four specific activities :
-          Provide new employees with the basic background information in Google, which make employees more easily to deal with the international issues and adapt to company’s life.
-          Google is a 24 hour operation, so they need to turn over the work shift. The orientation should guide new employees to relax themselves in the heavy work. People achived work-life balance.
-          Teamwork would help new employees working more efficient, and let new comers know how important to work with other staffs.
-          Creative is so important for Google that a kind of internet business, bring a new idea will help the organizatio’s development and give a promotion opportunity for employees.

Berbagi cerita mengurus surat keterangan bebas Narkoba di Rumah Sakit Umum Pemerintah Pirngadi Medan. Untuk melengkapai berkas pengurusan NIDN saya harus melampirkan beberapa berkas, salah satunya yaitu surat bebas narkoba, surat keterang sehat, dan tidak sakit jiwa. Saya dtg ke RS Pirngadi Medan sekitar pukul 10.00 pagi, saya fikir langsung ke bagian test..ehhhh ternyata saya harus mendaftar dulu ke loket rawat inap yg ada di ujung bangunan rumah sakit..distu saya harus bayar Rp.15.000 untuk mendaftar. Setelah itu naik ke lantai 3 untuk tes bebas narkoba, dtg ke loket tunjukin kertas kuitansi dr yg 15rb td terus nanti nama kita di cetakin barecode, dan di tempelin sprti stiker di wadah kecil untuk menampung air seni, tp sblm itu harus kekasir dulu untuk bayar Rp.160.000. Selesai membayar karna menunggu hasilnya sekitar 1 jam lebih jadi saya putuskan untuk buat surat keterangan sehat. turun lah saya ke lantai 2 dengan menggunakan lift, sampai disana keruangan sus...
